Latvian Rye Sandwiches Recipe

It is very common to serve open-faced sandwiches with tea whenever company arrives, or as a light meal. Rye bread has been eaten in Latvia and the surrounding European area for many, many years. These little sandwiches are a great way to introduce your kids to Latvian cuisine!
Supplies Needed
- Slices of party rye bread
- Suggested toppings (varied according to traditional preference) liverwurst, cream cheese, salami or ham
- Optional toppings: Thinly sliced radishes, sliced hard boiled eggs, olives, pickles, fresh dill
Preparation
- These open faced sandwiches can be created according to your own taste and creativity!
- To make it easier to spread the liverwurst you may want to take 4 TB and mix with 1TB mayonnaise.
