Supplies Needed

• Construction paper
• Tape, staples or glue
• Scissors
• String or yarn for hanging
• Decorations: Glitter, sequins, stickers, markers, crayons, whatever you have on hand!

Preparation

1. Fold construction paper in half lengthwise
   Suggested colors – orange and black 
2. Cut a row of slits in the paper perpendicular to the folded edge
3. Decorate using glitter, sequins, stickers or markers
4. Cut out eyes, nose and a mouth to give your lantern a face
5. Unfold and connect the short ends of the paper with tape or glue.
6. If you want, fold paper over the top and bottom to make fancy edges
7. Attach string or yarn to hang, or cut a strip of paper and attach to the top for a handle. You tape or glue your string to either side of the lantern.  You can also punch a hole on either side, string your yarn through and tie.
