French Embroidery Craft
Decorating fabric with thread or yarn to form designs is called embroidery. The art of embroidery has long been a French tradition and is still used to decorate all sorts of things including clothing.

Supplies Needed
- Construction paper
- Yarn, string or shoelace
- Glue
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Optional hole puncher
- Option for the older kids: Safety pin or embroidery needle
Preparation
- Using a pencil, draw a simple design on your paper
- Glue the yarn along the lines
- You can also use a hole punch to create holes along your design – then simply have the children thread the yarn through the holes.
- Older kids can attach the yarn or string to the small safety pin or embroidery needle and sew along the lines.
