American Alligator
The American Alligator is native only to the southeastern United States. The only other alligator species remaining in the world is the Chinese, or Yangtze, Alligator. Alligators eat almost anything, but primarily consume fish, birds, turtles, mammals and amphibians. The largest recorded American Alligator reached a length of 19 feet, 2 inches.
