Mama, Papa and Baby Corn Dogs

The corn dog was popularized in 1942 at the Texas State Fair where it was introduced by Carl and Neil Fletcher.

Now an American classic, the corn dog is not the healthiest recipe on the planet by any stretch of the imagination, but it sure is yummy!

Here is our quick & easy version of the popular treat!

Ingredients / Tools
  • 1 package mini hot dogs (the babies)
  • 2 regular size hot dogs (Mama and Papa)
  • one box instant corn muffin mix (i.e. Jiffy brand)
  • oil for frying
    * note: to avoid burns or other injury, children should not assist with the deep frying portion of this recipe.
  • popsicle or kabob sticks (snip off the sharp tips)
Preparation
  1. Prepare the corn muffin mix as directed on the box
  2. heat oil in deep pan for frying
  3. roll the hot dogs in the mix until well coated
  4. fry the hot dogs in the oil
  5. place corn dogs on paper towel to absorb excess oil
  6. insert sticks
  7. allow to cool before serving to children
