American Alligator
The American Alligator is native only to the southeastern United States. The only other alligator species remaining in the world is the Chinese, or Yangtze, Alligator. Alligators eat almost anything, but primarily consume fish, birds, turtles, mammals and amphibians. The largest recorded American Alligator reached a length of 19 feet, 2 inches.

Bald Eagle
The Bald Eagle is a bird of prey found in North America,
and is the national bird and one of the primary symbols of the United States. Immature Bald Eagles have mostly brown plumage until their fourth year, when they develop the characteristic white head and tail. In the wild, Bald Eagles typically live about 20-30 years, but can realize a life span of approximately 50 years.

American Bison
The American Bison, or buffalo, inhabited the Great Plains of the United States and Canada in massive herds. Bison were a keystone species, shaping the ecology of the Great Plains and were central to the lifestyle of Native Americans of the Great Plains.

Grizzly Bear
The grizzly bear is a large yellow/brown bear that lives in the uplands of western North America. The name “grizzly” comes from the hairs of its coat having silver-grey tips .

Moose
The moose is the largest member of the deer family. In North America, the moose can be found in almost all of Canada, Alaska, much of New England, and the upper Rocky Mountains. The male moose drops its antlers after mating season in order to conserve energy for the winter, regrowing them in the spring. One of the fastest growing organs in the world, a moose’s antlers take about three to five months to grow.

Timber Wolf
The Gray Wolf, or Timber Wolf, shares a common ancestry with the domestic dog. Timber Wolves were once abundant over much of North America and Eurasia, but now is widely considered an endangered species. Howling helps pack members communicate effectively in thickly forested areas and over great distances.

White-Tailed Deer
The White-Tailed Deer is a medium-sized deer found throughout most of the continental United States. The deer’s coat is a reddish-brown in the spring and summer and turns to a grey-brown throughout the fall and winter. They have a characteristic tail with a white underside, which they raise as a signal of alarm.
