Weinerschnitzelback to traditional German children's recipes
Wiener Schnitzel

Wiener Schnitzel or Viennese cutlet is a popular dish in Germany and Austria. It traditionally uses breaded then fried veal chops, however here we use pork chops or for a vegetarian option try breaded “meatless” chicken pattys.

Ingredients

  • 4 Boneless porkchops pounded thin
  • 1 C Breadcrumbs
  • 2 Eggs
  • Olive Oil (enough to cover the skillet by about ½ inch.)
  • Lemon wedges

Preparation

  1. Beat the egg in a bowl.
  2. Pour your breadcrumbs in a shallow bowl or plate.
  3. Heat the oil in a skillet.
  4. When the oil is hot, dip and coat your pork chop in the egg mixture.
  5. Next dip into and coat in the breadcrumbs.
  6. Fry in the skillet on both sides until cooked.
  7. Season with salt and pepper and a sprinkle of lemon juice.
  8. To use the breaded meatless pattys, just heat the pattys until cooked and serve with lemon.
