German Breakfast (Frühstück)

Breakfast in Germany (Frühstück) usually consists of bread or toast, with toppings such as jelly, jam, meat or cheese. Muesli or uncooked rolled oats with nuts and fruits is another breakfast item however you can cook your oats to make a more traditional oatmeal with toppings.

Cheese Toast

Ingredients

  • Cheese of your choice
  • Bread

Preparation

  1. Slice your cheese into thin slices
  2. Place the cheese slices on your bread
  3. Place in toaster oven or conventional oven until cheese has melted and bread is toasted

Museli (or oatmeal with toppings)

Ingredients

  • 1 C Rolled oats
  • Optional 2 C Water for cooking
  • Optional toppings such as raisins, brown sugar, maple syrup, shredded apple, cream, walnuts, berries, chocolate chips, bananas, etc.

Preparation

1. For traditional Museli use dry oats and add your toppings to the oats.
2. You can also soak your oats in a little juice before adding your toppings.
3. If you are cooking your oats, boil the water and add in your oats. Cook for 10 – 20 minutes and add your toppings.
