Schultüten - First Day of School Cone

In Germany the first day of school is a big occasion usually held on a Saturday where all members of the family (including grandparents, aunts and uncles) accompany the children to school for a little party.  Each child brings a schultüten full of sweets and a few presents.  The younger siblings also get a smaller schultüten so they don’t feel left out.   Our friend Fiona has been practicing a lot for her first day of school in Germany with her own homemade schultüten. Here you can make and decorate your own schultüten and fill it with your things for school!

What you'll need:

Paper
Scissors
Tape, glue or stapler
Crayons or markers
Other decorations such as glitter, stickers, etc.

Preparation

  1. Decorate your paper.
  2. Fold your paper into a cone shape.
  3. Seal the edge with your adhesive.
  4. Fill with treats and small toys.
