Easy Tortilla Buñuelos
Traditional Mexican Buñuelos are soft balls of dough that are fried and drenched in a sweet mixture of cinnamon, suger and other spices. They are sold at fairs and carnivals in Mexico, and are also a favorite treat in Mexico at Christmas-time.
Our easy and quick kid-friendly version of bunuelos uses ready-made tortillas instead of fresh dough, and are baked rather than fried in oil. Try making your own tortillas using our easy tortilla recipe, or feel free to use store-bought tortillas!
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- butter
- flour tortillas
Preparation
- preheat oven to 400 degrees
- mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl or a clean spice shaker
- Melt butter and brush on one side of the tortilla.
- Sprinkle cinnamon & sugar mixture evenly over the tortilla
- roll the tortilla up into a log, buttering and sprinkling the other side as you roll it. If they want to spring open, insert a toothpick into the center to hold them closed.
- Place tortillas on a cookie sheet and cook in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for 3-5 minutes, until slightly crispy.
- enjoy your Buñuelos!
