Pot au Feu or Beef Stew
Literally Pot on the Fire, this traditional stew is made by boiling beef with many vegetables. A perfect dish to warm your little one up en hiver!
Ingredients
- Beef pieces precut into stew pieces
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 can of beef stock
- 2 Carrots chopped
- 2 stalks of celery chopped
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 clove of garlic minced
- 2 russet potatoes chopped
- 1 pinch of allspice
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Preparation
- Coat beef pieces in flour.
- Sear beef pieces on a hot skillet with vegetable oil until browned.
- Combine browned beef, beef stock, carrot, celery, onion, garlic, potatoes and allspice in a large pot and bring to a boil.
- Lower heat to low and simmer 2 hours.
- OR after browning the beef, combine everything in a crock pot for 4 hours.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
