French Embroidery

Decorating fabric with thread or yarn to form designs is called embroidery.  Embroidery is popular throughout the world and has been used in France to decorate all sorts of things including clothing. Here is an easy and safe version using glue instead of a needle.

What you'll need:

  • Construction paper
  • Pencil
  • Yarn, string or shoelace
  • Glue

Preparation

  1. Using a pencil, draw a simple design on your paper.
  2. Glue your yarn or string along the lines of your design.
  3. You can also use a hole punch to punch holes along your design and thread the yarn through the holes.
